about

The compilation of Stickney's History started in 2006 by Martin and Bev Gosling. It came about out of curiosity whilst they were out walking in the village. They both noticed the unusual names that some of the houses had been given over the years. This personal curiosity soon developed into the recording of all the houses and the different types of trades people that once occupied some of the properties .This was the focus of their initial research, but over the years it developed into an extensive history of all aspects of the village.

The collection of information that Martin and Bev now have on Stickney, and its occupants over the centuries, is an ever increasing one and contains many different documents, including photographs, letterheads, censuses, trade bills, church records, slides and videos, maps, books, deeds and wills, village magazines and newspaper cuttings.

The success of the research has been down to the co-operation, interest, and support of the local villagers, and the many hours spent by Martin and Bev compiling a collection of information that maps the history of a small Lincolnshire village.

The information and documents within this website are just a small selection of the available literature. If you have any questions, contact details are available on the contacts page.
